Memorable Festive Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Dining; “Fashion Island of Misfit Toys” Gingerbread Display; Breakfast with Santa; Gingerbread House Decorating; Weekend Fireside Sessions; and a New Year’s Eve Bash at Aqua Lounge

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (October 24, 2019) – The time is near to spend luxurious and delectable holiday festivities at Fashion Island Hotel in the heart of Newport Beach. This warmly welcoming chic retreat creates delicious dining and family fun for destination travelers and Southern California locals alike. Oak Grill star chef Brittany Valles and her team are featuring a fabulous buffet for Thanksgiving, five course dinners for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and on New Year’s Eve, Oak Grill features delectable multi-course menus at two seatings, as well as a brunch on New Year’s Day. Weekend Holiday Fireside Sessions are a very special time for relaxing and enjoying good company around Oak Grill’s romantic fire pits. The little ones will especially love Pastry Chef Andy de la Cruz’s annual gingerbread display this year, “Fashion Island of Misfit Toys” a whimsical takeoff of the movie, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” More fun for the kids is the yummy Breakfast with Santa on December 1 and Gingerbread House Making on December 15. And, of course, a fantastic New Year’s Eve shindig is happening at Aqua Lounge – the perfect sleek nightclub venue for ringing in a wonderful 2020!

Following are the details for 2019/2020 holiday events at Fashion Island Hotel:

Oak Grill Thanksgiving Buffet Feast
Thursday, November 28, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Chef Brittany Valles and her culinary team will create a bountiful Thanksgiving buffet to be oh-so-thankful for – traditional, yet contemporary O.C.-style. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., stations offer all the brunch foods that families and friends crave from breakfast pastries and breads and omelets made-to-order to selections from the carving station, salads and chilled seafood and so many other festive favorites. Then, from 3 to 7 p.m., the holiday fare at the stations will be changed over to celebratory hearty dinner choices galore, of course including turkey and all the fixings. There will also be a Kids Station at both buffets, as well as many desserts to please all sweet cravings. The day will be filled with live entertainment and a photo booth is there to capture happy Thanksgiving memories.

Holiday Gingerbread Display: “Fashion Island of Misfit Toys”
On display December 1 to 29; cider and cookies served Saturdays and Sundays in December, from 2 to 4 p.m.
“Fashion Island of Misfit Toys,” this year’s annual gingerbread display creation, takes its theme and inspiration from the classic movie, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and from the hotel’s ideal proximity to shopping mecca Fashion Island. Pastry Chef Andy de la Cruz will feature characters such as Santa Claus, Yukon Cornelius, Hermey the Elf, as well as toys from the Island of Misfit Toys – all cleverly concocted from holiday confectionary elements. This sweet, one-of-a-kind display will also give a not-so-subtle nod to high-end fashion with designer bags, boxes and accessories. Hot apple cider and cookies will be served on weekends. Guests are encouraged to bring unwrapped toys for the annual Toys for Tots drive.

Holiday Fireside Sessions & S’mores at Oak Grill
December 1 to 29, Mondays through Saturdays from 6 to 9 p.m.; Sundays from 5 to 8 p.m.
Oak Grill’s Holiday Fireside Sessions invites friends and loved ones to cuddle up and celebrate the season with live acoustic holiday music on the patio. Local guitarists perform and guests sip ordered featured cocktails and savor seasonal dishes from the fireside menu, including holiday s’mores with chocolate peppermint bark and snowman-themed marshmallows.

Breakfast with Santa at Fashion Island Hotel
Sunday, December 1, seatings at 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Kids couldn’t ask for a better breakfast than one where St. Nick himself is there to say, “Ho Ho Ho” and heartily greet them. The Breakfast Buffet tempts with family favorites such as cooked-to-order eggs, bacon and sausage, Belgian waffles, pumpkin pancakes, mini cheeseburgers, chilaquiles station, a Christmas cupcake bar and a hot chocolate bar. The holiday fun and entertainment include readings of holiday stories, cookie decorating and the chance to write a personal letter to Santa. Guests are invited to bring a new unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots.

Gingerbread House Decorating
Sunday, December 15, from 10 a.m. to noon
Pastry Chef Andy de la Cruz guides this family holiday experience as the kids decorate their own gingerbread houses to take home, all while enjoying complimentary hot chocolate, holiday cookies and popcorn.

Oak Grill’s Christmas Five-Course Dinners with Live Entertainment
Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25, from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
Oak Grill is a best choice for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dining. Chef Brittany Valles prepares an innovative five-course menu showcasing her best holiday fare to be enjoyed with live entertainment in the background.

Oak Grill New Year’s Eve Dinner Party
Tuesday, December 31, from 5 p.m. to midnight; first seating from 5 p.m.; second seating from 8:30 p.m.
At Oak Grill, New Year’s Eve means a delectable multi-course gala dinner and plenty of cork popping for toasts to a happy and healthy 2020. Prepared by Chef Brittany Valles, the first seating will include a prix fixe four-course dinner; and the second seating will include a six-course dinner with a champagne toast.

New Year’s Eve at Aqua Lounge
Tuesday, December 31, starting at 9 p.m.
It’s a party to ring in the New Year with style, pizazz and good cheer all around – New Year’s Eve at chic and sleek, nightlife destination Aqua Lounge. Music is provided by Aqua Lounge’s talented DJ, and there will be an effervescent champagne toast at the stroke of midnight, party favors provided and more. 3, 2, 1… party!
$50 cover charge includes champagne toast at midnight. $120 cover charge includes unlimited access to an exclusive Moet & Chandon Champagne Bar in a private area. Advanced ticket purchase required. New Year’s Day Brunch at Oak Grill
Wednesday, January 1, 2020, from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
New Year’s Eve party revelers, locals and Fashion Island Hotel guests are invited to start 2020 off with a yummy bubbly brunch at Oak Grill. The first day of the New Year features a la carte specials and New Year’s Day drink specials, including Bottomless Mimosas and build-your-own Bloody Marys for an additional charge. Savory Treats include a Breakfast Burger with fried egg, bacon, Hopscotch Cheddar, hash browns and truffle tater tots, and there are Chorizo Breakfast Tacos or a Vegan Taco option, as well as Filet Mignon Steak and Eggs Benedict. On the sweet side, guests will savor Banana Bread French Toast and Mimosa Fruit Salad.
